Lashing rods

« Back to Glossary Index

Lashing rods are elongated, sturdy metal rods used to secure shipping containers to the deck of a ship or to each other.

They are equipped with hooks and tensioners that anchor the container’s corners and then to other containers or attachment points on the vessel and keep it stable during transport. Lashing rods provide additional security by preventing containers from shifting, tilting, or falling over, especially in rough seas.
